Natural Hoof Care
Specialist Gudrun Buchhofer grew up in Germany and immigrated to Canada
in 1998. Gudrun came to horses
later in life. Her first horse, Sunny, moved with her from Germany to
Canada and she now has a herd of three. Gudrun has kept Sunny barefoot
and boarded naturally since 1993 and hooves have become her passion. When
Sunny almost died because of severe laminitis in 2003, she was desperate
for help. She found Jaime Jackson and the American Association for the
Advancement of Natural Horse Care Practices (AANHCP) and immediately enrolled
in the education program to become a professional. Gudrun is one of the
first Canadian Natural Hoof Care Practitioners certified by the AANHCP
and is now working as Natural Hoof Care Practitioner and Field Instructor
for the AANHCP. Gudrun loves to take on difficult cases (i.e. navicular
and founder) and helps horses to develop their very own natural foot.
Gudrun has clients - horses and donkeys - throughout Nova Scotia. Within
the AANHCP Training and Certifiation Program Gudrun performs many roles.
She tutors students from all over the globe as Training Cell Leader and
supports the Board of Directors as Assistant Coordinator for International
Practitioner Affairs. Gudrun is currently translating some of Jaime Jackson's
books into German.
